Deleting your data
You can ask Openplanet Technologies Ltd (RC 1652204), which operates Storedeko, to delete personal data we hold about you. This page explains exactly how, what we remove, and what we are required to keep.
How to make a request
Email support@storedeko.com with the subject Data deletion request. Please include:
- The WhatsApp phone number or email address the data relates to.
- If you bought something, the name of the business you bought it from.
We do not require an account to make a request — most people asking will be customers who never created one.
What happens next
We acknowledge within a few working days and complete the request within 30 days, as required by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. We will tell you specifically what was removed and what was kept, and why.
What we delete
- Your name, phone number, email address and any address held about you.
- Any notes the merchant wrote about you.
- Conversation content, including photographs and files you sent, and any earlier chat history the merchant imported from their own WhatsApp export.
- The text of any review you left.
- The detail on your activity timeline with that merchant.
- Your customer record with the merchant you dealt with.
The link between your phone number and all of the above is removed, so a later message from that number matches nothing and starts a fresh record.
What we keep, and why
Records of completed transactions. Invoices, payments and orders are a merchant's accounting records and Nigerian law requires businesses to retain them. Where we keep such a record we remove or mask the personal details we can, but the transaction itself remains.
An issued invoice also cannot be silently altered — that immutability is what makes it trustworthy as evidence of what was agreed, for you as much as for the merchant.
An honest note about how this works today
Deletion is currently carried out manually by our team. There is no self-service button in the product yet, because conversation records are stored in an append-only form that the application itself cannot erase. A member of our team performs the removal directly and confirms it to you.
We would rather say this plainly than offer a button that does not do what it claims. We are building a self-service path, and this page will change when it exists.
There are also two places a deletion does not reach yet, and you should hear them from us rather than discover them later. The first is the copy of each message as WhatsApp originally delivered it to us — it is stored before we know whose it is, which is exactly why our deletion process cannot find it again afterwards. The second is the record of replies our system drafted and of any price negotiation, which is kept alongside the conversation.
Neither is a position we are defending. Both are recorded as engineering work to be fixed, and this page will change when they are. If you ask, we will tell you exactly what remained after your request and why.
If you are a merchant
Deleting your Storedeko account removes your business profile, catalogue and bank payout details. Your customers' records are deleted with it, except for the transaction records described above. Tell us if you need an export of your invoices first — we will provide one before deleting.
